About Us

Emu Spirit is an established Australian company launched in 1993.

We are proud to be one of Australia's largest manufacturers and exporters of Emu Oil based products.

We were the first to have our Oil of Emu tested for internal (oral) application in the world.

This means our products have been assessed by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration under the Department of Health) for their quality and safety. An AUST L number is proudly displayed on the front of our packaging as proof of listing.

  • Our entire Therapeutic range is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). Our naturally derived skincare range is highly sought after in the Australian and international markets.

  • One of our proudest achievements was having eight countries use our products, including all of Australia's Olympic Track & Field Team during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Our Process

Emu Spirit’s Oil of Emu products contain the synergistic activity of all aspects of Emu oil, including its temperature sensitive Omega essential fatty acids. We control all stages of production, from farming of the Emus, to the processing and the rendering of fat into the 100% pure Oil of Emu, using our patented rendering system OilTek™ at our Melbourne-based facilities.

Emu Spirit’s patented rendering process, OilTek, developed by a world’s leading oil chemist is exclusive to Emu Spirit and Emu Spirit’s products. This process produces a stable, 100% pure oil that maintains the same natural molecular structure as the raw, natural product (emu fat).

Our TGA Listed Products

Our therapeutic range is listed on the ARTG (Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods), we display an ‘AUST L’ number on our label as proof of listing. This means our products have been assessed by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration under the Australian Department of Health) for their quality and safety.

They can only be manufactured in a TGA licensed site to control the quality and safety of the final product.

Our Emu

  • The Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is an Australian native bird. It is flightless and is the second-largest living bird by height; it can reach up to 1.9 metres in height. Emu farming is a highly regulated industry and all farmers are licensed by the Government in Australia. The Australian Emu industry has a competitive advantage over Emu oil produced in other countries where much of the oil produced overseas comes from genetically inferior ex-zoo stock.

Emu Oil is derived from the layer of fat that exists between the muscle groups and skin of both male and female Emu’s. This raw product is then developed with our patented process OilTek to become Oil of Emu.

  • Farming & feeding of Emus plays a significant part in the quality of Emu Oil. Therefore, we make sure our Emus are sourced from reputable, licensed Emu farms. We carefully monitor their living conditions and quality. Our Emus are non-GMO, free from growth hormones and free from anti-biotics. We exceed normal industry practice to produce a more active oil by only using three year old Emus that have been through a normal breeding season rather than Emus processed just prior to their first breeding season.
