    Summer is here, and for many of us that means it’s the time for long barbeques, hitting the beach and catching up with family and friends during the festive season. It’s also the time of excessive sun exposure, hay fever, dry skin and bug bites.

    1. Remember the SPF

    With the harsh Australian sun’s UV rays in mind, stick to a sun lotion that has at least SPF 30 – or even better, SPF 50. Try to avoid sitting in the sun during its peak hours between 10am and 4pm. Reapply sun screen every two hours immediately after swimming. For an extra layer of sun protection, apply a base of pure emu oil to your skin before slapping on the sun screen. If you already have sunburn, you can also use emu oil to treat the skin.
